[TH] Hormones

Hormones is a Thai romantic-comedy film shown on 2008. In this movie, there are 4 sub stories. Every character portrays a different kind of teenager that we see in our society nowadays. You can see how problems arise and how they were able to solve these problems. Stories are very cute! I can finally say that there’s one movie that I can totally relate to 😀

1: Poo, Mai and Nana

Poo and Mai are neighbors, and they are rivals too. They have the same interest on Nana so they are competing with one another on who is the first one to get her number. I can feel that Nana isn’t taking them seriously and just enjoying their company. I also think that Poo and Mai look really alike! Sometimes, I couldn’t even distinguish them.

2: Oh Lek and Titee

This is so cute! I can totally relate to her. I’ve been a fan of C-pop ever since I was young and recently to K-pop. I’m learning Korean for the main reason that I would be able to understand what my favorite bands are talking about, and so that I wouldn’t need subtitles when I watch series or movies. I wish that her happy ending would also be my happy ending! Do you think sending a mail, like what she did, would be successful? Would my bias actually read it? 🙂 I am sure many K-pop fans could totally understand her feelings!

3: Jo and C

Jo has been trying to court C from the very start. I can say that he’s so thoughtful and very sincere. Those little things that he’d done for her, he’s so sweet! 😉 It’s so nice that things ended happily between them!

4: Nuan, Hern and Aoi

Totally usual that boys will be two-timing. I mean it’s very hard to find decent guys these days. Still, Hern regretted and said the truth to her. Nuan was also forgiving that she would actually give him a second chance.

Overall, I like the stories because I know that teenagers nowadays have these kinds of problems. I also like the characters! I remember Nana was the one in Bangkok Traffic Love Story and Hern was the lead actor in Hello Stranger. Hern’s role was exactly the same as with the one he acted in Hello Stranger! The happy-go-lucky guy. Anyways, I also think that the girls who acted in the series are pretty too.

It wasn’t the best for me but it’s totally worth watching! MyAsianMovie recommends this to you, especially teenagers! 🙂

[KR] Acoustic

Acoustic is a Korean movie shown on 2010. The movie is divided into 3 sub movies, each with different actors and different storyline. Acoustic is all about music and their passion for it. This movie’s audience must be for the youth and all those music aspirants.

One thing that caught my attention with this movie is the actors. I’m into K-pop and some of the actors are from well known K-pop boy bands. Shin Se Kyung has also left a great impression when she acted in Boys Over Flowers, a hit Korean drama in 2009.

Part 1: Broccolli

I think that the story is quite simple, but cute. A girl who wishes to share her music and inspire everyone before she leaves this world. I love the song, Broccolli, though I’m not sure why it was named Broccolli. From the lyrics, I could feel that it’s a sad song and she must be heartbroken. Broccolli could also be a man from her past. In the end, she was able to achieve her goal of inspiring others through her music. The story is quite touching, but lacked emotions from the main actress. But she is very pretty!

Part 2: Bakery Attack

CNBlue’s Lee JongHyun and Kang MinHyuk are the actors here. You can see that they had great chemistry here, and it feels like they’re acting themselves. Although, i wonder why Minhyuk always gets the ‘weird guy’ roles. He isn’t supposed to be that stupid right? but, he’s always that cute little guy who gets bullied by his hyungs (older brothers) 🙂 As for Jonghyun, I also feel that he’s acting as Jonghyun. Though the story is quite nonsense, the bottom line for this is we can achieve our goals if we try our best. Just like them in real life, CNBlue also made it this far because they’ve  been very hardworking to produce good music to their fans.

Part 3: Unlock

This is the most confusing part. I didn’t quite understand the storyline because it was supposed to be a story in the future. I was quite excited to see this movie because of 2AM’s Ong Seulong. The first part when he was randomly dancing is hella funny! Didn’t expect that from him, because he’s always the serious one. I felt that he’s also acting his own self. I like the acting of the girl though. Anyway, I couldn’t quite understand the last part when Seulong appeared in the tv singing. Wasn’t it supposed to be the girl singing and not him? Wasn’t he supposed to be a student with his own dream?

My favorite part: I’m a BOICE, and I’d be too bias if I would choose Bakery Attack. I didn’t quite understand the Unlock story so i have to go with Se Kyung’s part. The story was quite simple and straight to the point 🙂

I love all the songs in this movie! Regretted why I didn’t bought it when I was in Korea last summer 😦

MyAsianMovie ‘s rating: 5/10

I felt that dividing a movie into three different stories is not a good idea. Movies already have a limited time, and they still shorten it. Actors could not really show off their talents well and the storyline would be hasty and this would lead to the audience having a difficult time to grasp the concept. For me, I only watched this because of the main actors and actress. If you have time, watch it! But MyAsianMovie doesn’t really recommend it.

[TW] Hear Me

Hear me (聽説 /Ting Shuo) is a Taiwanese movie shown in 2009. Actors include Eddie Peng, Ivy Chen, and Michelle Chen.

I initially watched this movie because i knew the actors. At first you might think that it’s so boring, since it’s such a quiet movie. Good thing, Eddie Peng is around. He’s so funny and his expressions are so priceless! I love those moments when he is with his mom. Their lines are so spontaneous and so natural, that you’d actually believe that Eddie is her son. Her mom might be familiar to you! Actually, she’s the mother in the successful dramas such as Fated to Love You and Autumn’s Concerto. Aside from them, I think that Ivy Chen is actually a good actress. I’ve never watched any of her series yet but I’m excited to see her portray a different role. She’s so small and cute. She doesn’t speak in this movie, but you could actually feel and understand what she’s trying to say from her facial expressions. Happy to say that aside from the actors, the storyline is good too! Never expected that i would actually love this movie!

How can a guy like a girl who can’t speak nor hear? It is indeed very possible. Tian Kuo’s parents are very supportive, and so does Yang Yang’s sister. I’ve also seen the closeness of the two sisters, and they’re always there for each other. Their moments are so touching too! They really did know how to act and let the audience feel it without even actually talking. I think that’s really hard!

The ending is so cute! but I’ve already kind of guessed that she can actually speak. I mean is it possible for two sisters to have the same sickness?

This is not just a movie. It’s not just a story to make us laugh, to enjoy, or to waste our time. It’s a very inspirational story. It’s not only about love, between sisters, between parents, or having dreams. It’s also about our passion in life. I specifically love the last line from the movie:

Love and dream are wonderful things

It doesn’t need to be heard, be spoken, and be translated.

but, you can feel it.

I totally recommend this movie! Although, this wasn’t given much recognition in Taiwan, I felt that it should receive better popularity. The actors and the storyline is so good! Hear Me is a movie that should definitely not be missed out in your list of movies to watch.
